Of course her wisdom and beauty have gone far from unnoticed. Until the advancement of technology, society relied solely on the moon for guidance when making important farming, health, and travel decisions. Not only have we relied on its strength for guidance, but artists of all types - musicians, artists, and writers - have tried replicating the moon's beauty through their work for quite sometime. (Neil Young, anyone?)
October 8th marked the Blood Moon. Although I (unfortunately) overslept for this beautiful phenomena, that night I had a creative spark that flew through my heart and into my head until wee hours of the morning. I felt so alive on that side of my brain - the right side. Autumn represents a time of change in seasons and within ourself. The yang is exiting the stage, as the yin enters; preparing us to snuggle up inside and complete projects we've been putting off through the Summer heat.
I'm a firm believer that our bodies and mind are fully connected with the Earth and other terrestrial objects - seeing as we're made of the same matter - but after October 7th I became very curious as to how our mind/body is effected by the gravitational pulls of my girl..
Luna.
The moon's cycle can be broken into new (dark), new (crescent), waxing (growing), full, and waning (decreasing).
As the moon cycle begins with the Waxing New Moon (the moon is unable to be seen) this is an ideal time to prepare for the upcoming cycle by finishing up the previous cycle. Throughout the Waxing period, energy levels rise with the moon's glow - which makes it easier to create and grow. She then phases into the slim crescent new moon representing the excitement of new beginnings.
During the full moon our energies are at its highest point, cueing you to complete the tasks you began during the Waxing period before we enter Waning.
After our heightened energy during the Waxing cycle, our bodies tend to wind down during the Waning period. This is the time to relax (yes, I said relax) and take a few days to yourself - let yourself just b e.
I encourage you to become more aware of the moon's phases and to (try) incorporating your tasks depending on the moon's cycle. By becoming more aware of its effects on you, you will feel more in touch with the Earth.
